Susanne, or Susi, how I love to call her, is a special soul. Life with her feels so much lighter. So light, I hope that everyone in the world has a Susi in their life.
Unlike most adults, she has kept a childlike curiosity & carefree attitude. It’s typical for her to say: “Oh wow, look at the plants, they are so happy!”, or to laugh out loud in her natural & cheerful way.
I honestly don’t know anyone else who laughs as much as Susi does. Her deep & loud belly laughs are iconic, and she lets them ring for the smallest reasons. Or sometimes for no reason at all, like when we went on a weekend trip and I was trying to fall asleep, while she was trying not to laugh and wake me up, but instead ended up laughing even more.
When I first met her two years ago, I would have never imagined what a big role she would play in my life. At first, I even thought she was a little bit crazy for laughing so much, even at the banalest things. But as she moved in and became my housemate, we grew closer and I discovered the deep, valuable wisdom that she contains between her broad Cheshire cat grin.
from hairdresser to soundhealer
Susanne started her career as a hairstylist, where she went from being an apprentice in a small German village to working in London’s high fashion scene for many years. You could say that she “made it to the top”. But like so many people that ended up living in Bali, she also decided to leave the comfort & money behind and discover a life away from the hustle & bustle of a metropole.
Today, she expresses her artistry through paintings and sound healing. Especially her flute playing is mesmerizing.
Watch below the video I have recorded of her playing in our garden:
meditate with susi
Another trait of her is that she is a meditation addict, as I like to call her. Susi is a big fan of active and kundalini meditations, as taught by the Indian mystic Osho. At least once a day, she practices one of the many different meditation techniques that she has acquired over the past years.
As a certified meditation teacher, she is now also starting to step into her own power and passing down the techniques to other people.
susi is an everyday hero …
because of her huge & generous heart, and the way she accepts people without judgment. She never takes things personal, and knows that people go through their own processes. That is why it is so easy to live with her.
The way she walks through life is extraordinary. With the eyes of a child, she finds joy in the smallest things, even just in the way how grass grows. And she is never afraid to let out her loud & cheerful laughter – never asking if it might be inappropriate or weird.
Susi has inspired me in so many ways: To not take life too seriously. And whenever I needed advice, she has been there and giving me the exact advice that I needed to hear.
I am deeply grateful for Susanne for spreading the seeds of freedom through laughter, meditation and sound healing.
